Terrestrial surveying is an important source of key geospatial information. The Center has a number of surveying instruments and projects. These include:

Two 5700 Trimble geodetic grade receivers with Zypher Geodetic antennas

One 5800 Trimble geodetic receiver

One UHF radio for RTK applications

One 5600 D2 Robot Total Station

The 5700/5800 equipment is configured to work with the on-campus NetRS base station in real-time kinematic mode via CDMA cell-modems. Trimble Pathfinder Office, TerraSync and ArcPad with GPScorrect is used for mapping applications, while Trimble Geomatics Office and JPL’s GYPSY-OASIS II and UNAVCO’s TECQ software is used for Surveying/Geodetic applications.
