Research at CAST is focused on the acquisition, aggregation, analysis, and application of geospatial data. CAST is actively involved in extensive research efforts, and is almost entirely supported by competitive grants. Our researchers span the social and physical sciences with expertise in the measurement and analysis of spatially referenced, multi-scalar data and processes, and are always looking for new collaborations, within the university and beyond.

CAST invites potential research partners to include us in proposal development.

Research Areas

Geospatial information, already important in many scientific and engineering disciplines, is becoming an increasingly essential component in consumer-driven technologies as well. Our researchers continuously look for collaborations that will extend the application of spatial techniques and technologies to new areas of research. This unique perspective places CAST on the horizon of new technology and application development in many fields of study, including:

  • 3D Reconstruction
  • Digital Preservation
  • GIS, GNSS and Mapping
  • Image Analysis
  • Network Analysis
  • Reality Capture
  • Spatial Archaeometry
  • Technology Education
  • MicroCT Imaging and Analysis
